We have booked my husband, 5year old and myself our disney vacation about a year ago and just found about gaydays orlando May 31 - June 5 which happen to be our exact travel dates. Perhaps my question is ignorant and if that is the case I apologize for offending anyone, but do we need to worry about crowds being larger than normal, behavior of people being not becoming of a family resort and just the overall fact that over , gays and lesbians will be at disney during our stay. We are not staying at any of the sponsored gay day hotels!!! Any comments or insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Not all of the Gay Days attendees will be staying at Disney as this is an event that involves the greater Orlando area including theme parks other than WDW.

With its world-renowned theme parks, few places in America have a more extensive and impressive selection of accommodations to choose from than Orlando, Florida. With a tremendous gay following, especially during early June's Orlando Gay Days at Walt Disney World, the city and nearby Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee communities home to the major theme parks, and about a minute drive south of downtown Orlando , are consistently LGBT-welcoming when it comes to hotels. In Orlando, you would be hard-pressed to find a major hotel which had any issues with gay guests. Downtown Orlando actually has plenty of charm with world-class art museums, historic and gay-friendly districts like Thornton Park and the small, upscale community of Winter Park, and some of the liveliest gay clubbing in Florida.
Orlando and Disney World Gay Resorts and Hotels
The Gay Days was the 28 th event — and they get more fabulous every year! It all started in when a group of friends organized an unofficial event in Disney World on a June weekend. On that first weekend, there were people; it was almost a flash mob, before flash mobs were a thing. Attendees can enjoy kick-off parties, dinner shows, pool nights and drag events before donning red and going on some roller coasters. Pride is incredible, we all know that, but the organizers wanted to show that as well as dancing with our shirts off in a parade, members of the LGBT community also have families, the same interests as everyone else, and just want to meet Mickey Mouse with their kids.
The Florida Family Association will reportedly make good on an earlier vow to protest Walt Disney World's annual "Gay Days" event by flying two planes carrying "warning" banners over the Orlando-based resort this weekend. The organization, which has also protested the event in previous years, says the action is a response to "many, many letters and emails from people across the country" who inadvertently planned their Disney vacations during "Gay Days. Organizers of Gay Days at Disney World have deemed their event, which was first held in , as "the world's most popular gay and lesbian celebration," and report that it draws "over , gay and lesbian travelers" to Orlando each year.
